JAMMU, June 6: Maintaining that Dogra Swabhimaan Sangathan would have no reservation in joining hands with pro-Jammu outfits for vigorously pursuing issues of this region, former Minister and Chairman of the DSS party Choudhary Lal Singh today stressed that purported delimitation of the Assembly constituencies in J&K, should be coupled with immediate opening of one third of the seats reserved for PoK.
“We are hopeful that Delimitation Commission will be constituted soon and its report will also be implemented by this Government but let the PoJK refugees settled here be first given one third of the seats kept vacant for the occupied territory of Mirpur and Muzaffarabad,” he said while addressing a press conference at his official residence, here today.
Lal Singh explained that Displaced Persons from Mirpur and Muzaffarabad, settled here, comprise around one third of the total population of occupied territory under Pakistan and hence at least six out of total 24 seats kept vacant for PoK, should be filled by these refugees. “Government of India should immediately open six seats on the pattern of Mendhar, which is the long pending demand of the people of Jammu, and these should also be taken into the preview of the said Delimitation Commission to give real justice to the people of Jammu,” he said.
The DSS chief further suggested that two seats from Kashmir valley should be withdrawn and kept reserved for the Kashmiri Pandits who were forced to migrate from Kashmir to Jammu under a conspiracy. “These Kashmiri migrants are now settled here for the last three decades and they must be given representation in the Assembly by reserving two seats for them till their safe return to the Valley,” he said.
In response to a query, Choudhary Lal Singh said that his party has no reservations in joining hands with like minded pro-Jammu organizations for effectively highlighting the issues of Duggar region. He also did not rule out seeking support of BJP in his mission for Jammu.
Hoping justice in Rassana case, DSS chief said that he would continue struggle till real culprits are arrested for which CBI probe was required.
Former MLA Kanta Andotra, DSS general secretary Dr Haridutt Shishu, vice president K D Singh, Kuljeet Jamwal, Dr Kamal Saini (Retd IGP), Bhupinder Singh, Narender Bhau, Dr H R Sharma, Prof Ashok Gupta and S Balbir Singh were also present in the press conference.
