JAMMU, Apr 20: A-five member team of Bar Council of India (BCI) today held detailed deliberations with Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association Jammu at Janipur Court Complex on the issues which led to agitation by the lawyers.
During the meeting, the Bar Association told the BCI team that CBI probe into Rassana rape and murder case was one of the issues behind the strike by the lawyers fraternity but the national media generated wrong impression.
The BCI team was informed that Bar Association resorted to strike demanding withdrawal of illegal directions issued by the Tribal Affairs Department, deportation of illegally settled immigrants in and around Jammu on account of their being a security threat, resolving of issue being agitated by the people of Nowshera, Sunderbani and Kalakote and handing over of Rassana rape and murder case to CBI.
The Bar also submitted a detailed memorandum to the Bar Council of India team mentioning that the present Government was hell-bent to change the Jammu’s demography so that the minorities are made to feel insecure and toe line of anti national forces which are duly encouraged and patronized by foreign powers, especially Pakistan.
“The JKHCBAJ, unlike Bar Association Srinagar which is a constituent of Hurriyat, is nationalist to the core. The Association has been striving hard to defeat all the anti-national forces operating in the State. Moreover, the Association has been taking recourse to all constitutional, peaceful and legal measures, including resorting to peaceful agitation, so as to integrate the State of J&K in a progressive manner into the rest of the country”, the memorandum said.
“The Association has been defeating all the anti- national and disruptive forces in Jammu province while as in the Kashmir, the story is altogether different as Kashmir Bar Association is part of the ongoing break India movement”, the memorandum said, adding “the JKHCBAJ is not just a body of lawyers it is also a body of responsible citizens whose duty it is to fight out the break-India forces and ensure the unity and integrity of India”.
The Bar Association said, “it would be prudent to look into the credentials of those, including the so-called social worker Talib Hussain who are on the forefront opposing CBI probe into Kathua incident and communalising the situation in the State”.
