JAMMU, Dec 21: A joint delegation of Bari Brahmana Industries Association and JK Pharmaceutical Manufacturer’s Association Jammu called on Ghulam Nabi Azad, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, today to discuss the issue pertaining to clarification regarding Notification number 01/2010-Central Excise dated Feb 6, 2010.
During the interaction, members highlighted the problems being faced by the Industrial Unit holders due to pending issue which is lying with the Central Excise, Jammu since Oct 2012 resulting in huge financial losses to the Industrial Units who have already undertaken substantial expansion in their existing units by investing crores of rupees and their investment has been blocked due to non functioning of the units. The delay in issue of clarification was resulting in the closure of existing industry and this would also result in around 5000 workers losing their jobs, they explained.
The Minister gave a patient hearing and informed the members that he would take up the matter on priority with Finance Minister P Chidambaram to resolve the issue.
The meeting was attended by Rakesh Bhat, Lalit Mahajan, Tapan Dubey, Sidharth Dogra, Satish Koul, Pradeep Jain, Anil Gupta, Romesh Badyal, T S Reen and P S Jaggi.
