SAMBA, Dec 7: The railing of Basantar Bridge near Samba on Jammu-Pathankot National Highway has been lying damaged for the last few months but the district administration seems to be in deep slumber and waiting for some major incident to take place.
Drivers alleged that absence of proper railing, which protects vehicles in case of skidding off has been posing threat to their lives and instilling fear among the people.
A local resident of Samba Vijay Kumar said that the railing of Basantar Bridge has been damaged for many months, but the District Administration fails to pay any attention to this. “Every day, hundreds of vehicles pass over this bridge and anytime a big accident can took place, who will be responsible for that?, he questioned.
The people said that the District Administration and the National Highway Authority of India are waiting for a big accident to take place.
The people of Samba have appealed to the concerned authorities including District Administration Samba and the National Highway Authority of India to get the damaged railing of Basantar Bridge repaired so as to avoid any major mishap from taking place.
