SRINAGAR: Life returned to normal in the Kashmir Valley after remaining crippled for a day due to strike called against implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST) in the state and killing of three militants in Pulwama on Tuesday.
However, business and other activities remained paralysed for the second successive day today in Shopian, where three militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Bahmnoo village of Pulwama on Tuesday.
Jammu and Kashmir Coordination Committee (JKCC), an amalgam of trader bodies and civil society, had called for a strike yesterday against detention of trader leaders and activities, who were protesting against implementation of GST in its current form in the state.
Meanwhile, a complete shutdown was observed in twin south Kashmir districts of Shopian and Pulwama against killing of the militants. Life also returned to normal in this and other south Kashmir towns and tehsil headquarters, barring Shopian, a report from Anantnag said.
Situation was also normal as shops and business establishments reopened and traffic was plying normally in this and other north Kashmir town and tehsil headquarter, a report from Baramulla said. Similar reports were also received from Budgam and Ganderbal districts. (AGENCIES)
