Banned forest produce recovered from shop

KISHTWAR, Apr 19: Police today arrested a smuggler with banned forest produce (Nagchatri) worth lakhs.
“The accused identified as Tariq Hussain son of Ghulam Qadir Butt, resident of Berwar, Kishtwar was arrested with illegally dumped ‘nagchatri’ in his shop at Kishtwar,” a police official said.
He said that seven bags of Nagchatri weighing 249 Kg approximately worth Rs 5 lakhs were recovered from the shop by a police party of police post Kuleed. “A case FIR No 74/2019 under Sections 379 RPC, 6/16 Forest Act has been registered in this connection at police station Kishtwar and investigation started,” the official added.
