Bal Puraskar recipient, DSEJ organize art & essay competition for students

JAMMU, Mar 7: Onkar Singh Batra, recipient of Rashtriya Bal Puraskar and the goodwill ambassador of the United Nations Peacekeeping Forces Council – Southeast Asia in collaboration with the Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ), Government of Jammu and Kashmir organized a non-profit interaction-cum-donation campaign on Quality Education.
Under this joint venture, an art and essay competition named – “Quality Education & Peacebuilding” was organized in selected Government middle schools of the region. Out of 117 submissions from 83 students, 24 students were selected and were honored by Anuradha Gupta, Director School Education Jammu and Onkar Singh Batra (Peace Ambassador, UNPKFC) during the interaction event at Bahu Plaza Garden, Jammu.
In this interaction session, 80+ students from various Government schools of Jammu participated and interacted with DSEJ Anuradha and Onkar. They shared their thoughts about education and its importance. During the session, Onkar shared his inspiring story with the students and motivated them to become a young change-maker. DSEJ Anuradha Gupta also shared her mindful and inspiring thoughts with the students to do hard-work for a bright future.
In order to let the students know the importance of education, a book donation drive among underprivileged children was organized by Onkar Singh Batra in joint cooperation with The-Sara organization from Bahu Plaza to Panama Chowk, Jammu. 20 students along with two supervisors from Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Mubarak Mandi who came for the interaction session participated in this donation drive and donated 100+ story books to children in slum areas.
