Awareness programme on BOS, ODT organised

KATHUA, Feb 14: Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in collaboration with Government Degree College (GDC), Basohli conducted an awareness programme on Banking Ombudsman Scheme (BOS) and Ombudsman Scheme for Digital Transactions (ODT).
The programme was presided over by P Shimrah, BOS and ODT for Jammu and Kashmir while HS Verma, Secretary, OBO/ODT was also present.
Principal and Professors of the host college, teachers and students of DIET, B Ed College, Higher Secondary School and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Basohli attended the programme.
Branch manager of J&K Bank, Punjab National Bank and SBI Basohli were also present in large numbers.
Shimrah, in his inaugural speech deliberated the importance of financial freedom by emphasizing the importance of knowing where the money comes from and where it goes, spending money wisely which means having a budget, saving money and investing wisely to attain the peace of mind and succeed in life.
Verma narrated the importance of Banking Ombudsman (BO) scheme for resolving banking complaints. “The BO scheme is free, fast, fair, and effective mechanism in case the complaint is not resolved by the bank within 30 days of writing to it”, he said.
He advised to keep a watch on SMS for all activities in their account and report immediately to the bank if any unauthorized transaction takes place in their account.
“In case of complaints regarding use of digital wallets, prepaid payment instruments, mobile electronic banking etc may also be lodged with BO Office online at cms@rbi.org.in, RBI Jammu or email may be sent at cms.jammu@rbi.org.in or by post,” Verma added.
While presenting vote of thanks, Vice Principal Dr Papinder Bhagat advised all the participants to be vigilant while using online banking, ATM and not to reveal Pin/OTP to anybody.
