Authorized Apple service centre takes customers for ride in Srinagar

Srinagar, Sept 24: Customers have accused the authorized Apple service centre of duping them, claiming that it does not provide service in accordance with Apple policy and even forces them to pay for products that are still under warranty.
The Excelsior received complaints from over a dozen Apple customers about the poor service provided by the Infans Cybernetics Private Limited in Srinagar’s Karan Nagar area. Customers expressed dissatisfaction and frustration with the Center’s poor service and claimed that the Center had deceived many gullible customers.
“The Apple service centre in Karan Nagar, Srinagar, duped me twice. My products were under warranty, and I was asked to pay for the service, despite Apple’s policy of providing free service and replacement. I refused to pay and was forced to send my products to an Apple service centre in Delhi, where they were replaced for free according to Apple policy,” Umar from Chanapora Srinagar said.
He said that his MacBook malfunctioned that was in warranty and this Centre refused to give free repair service. “My iPhone and iPad had minor glitches and both were in warranty. They said that it will come under paid service. I was asked to pay a hefty amount for the service. I googled the glitches and fixed it myself,” he added.
Uzair Bhat, an Apple product user from Baramulla said that he was cheated by this service Centre and was given a refurbished iPhone. “When I told them to give me a replacement, they ignored my request and asked me to pay for the repair,” Uzair told Excelsior.
“Despite several complaints, no action has been taken against them. They took thousands from me for repairing iPhone 12 over a minor issue. As it’s an only service Centre in Kashmir, I have no option but to pay them a huge amount for a minor repair,” a customer from Anantnag said.
A group of customers alleged that this Centre is running a third party Centre next to their shop and is sending customers there for repair. “They openly divert customers to a nearby service centre in order to make more money. They are not only deceiving customers, but they are also tarnishing Apple’s image,” a customer said.
The officials at the service centre however said that they completely adhere to the Apple policy.
