SAMBA, Nov 6: Apni Party provincial president Jammu and former Minister, Manjit Singh today accused the authorities for adopting discriminatory approach towards the residential colonies of SC and ST communities in Samba district.
Addressing a meeting at Sarore area of Bari Brahmana in Samba district today which was organised by J&K ST Wing president of the party, Choudhary Saleem Alam, the former Minister said that the residential areas of SC and ST communities have been facing discriminatory approach from the authorities.
“These colonies have no development, no proper drainage system nor any kind of cleanliness. They have no clean drinking water supply system,” he said.
He further said that Parmandal block and the entire Kandi belt are among the worst hit due to the shortage of drinking water.
“Under these circumstances, the people have to buy drinking water and the authorities have yet to chalk out a strategy towards the development of their colonies despite repeated requests and protests,” he added.
He said that “The SC and ST people belong to a marginalized section of society and they must be treated equally by the authorities by providing equal opportunity to upgrade the living standard and develop the undeveloped areas.”
He said that the Apni Party will not tolerate any kind of discrimination with the people on the name of caste, creed, religion or region.
Meanwhile, ST Wing president of J&K, Choudhary Saleem Alam also spoke on the occasion and referred to various difficulties being faced by the ST Wing community and the backwardness of their residential colonies.
