KATRA, Sept 19: Police today foiled an attempt of smuggling liquor to the holy town Katra and arrested a bootlegger besides affecting seizure of J&K Excise liquor bottles from his possession.
The accused, namely Shamsher Singh of village Pardhal, Tehsil Katra was apprehended near PCP Ballini along with vehicle bearing registration number JK14B-4163, when he was coming towards Katra town. Police party recovered 12 number of bottles of J&K Excise liquor from his possession.
A case FIR No 213/2019 U/S 188 RPC has been registered in this connection at Police Station Katra. The arrest and recovery were made by SHO Katra, Inspr Pardeep Gupta, under the supervision of SDPO Katra Vivek Shekhar and ASP Katra Naresh Singh.
Meanwhile, Katra Police also foiled a bovine smuggling bid near Searli Naka and rescued four bovine animals, which were being smuggled in vehicle number JK02AW-6327 and JK19-5930. Police also arrested drivers of both the vehicles, identified as Sudham Hussain and Mohd Muzamal Hussain , both the residents of village Maitra, District Ramban.
In this regard, a case FIR number 214/2019 U/S 188RPC, 3 PCA Act has been registered at P/S Katra.
