ASHA workers’ delegation meets LG, raises issues

LEH, Oct 7: A delegation of ASHA workers led by state president, BJP Mahila Morcha, Rinchen Dolker, called on Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, RK Mathur, at Raj Niwas today.
The delegation requested the LG for intervention in the reservation of seats for ASHA workers in trainings conducted by the Health Department; reservation of permanent seats for them for the post of Auxiliary Nursing Midwife (ANM), X-Ray dental and electrocardiogram (ECG) nurses; the possibility of promotion; enhancement in their remuneration; need to upgrade the infrastructure of Anganwadi Centres housed in rented accommodations, etc.
The LG was also apprised of various other issues, including working in remote and inaccessible areas without proper facilities and salaries.
LG Mathur appreciated the work of ASHA workers during the COVID-19 pandemic and informed about efforts being made to enhance the welfare and social security of ASHA workers.
