JAMMU, May 27: A meeting of the Mata Kheer Bhawani Ji Yatra Welfare Society was held today under the chairmanship of its convenor, Kiran Wattal, to review arrangements regarding the forthcoming Mata Kheer Bhawani Yatra.
The meeting was presided over by Society president MK Yogi while notable social activists Vinod Pandita and Vishal Jotshi attended as special invitees. A large number of displaced migrants from camps and non-camps participated in the deliberations.
Addressing the gathering, Kiran Wattal appealed to community members to participate in large numbers in the historic pilgrimage to preserve the centuries-old ethos and civilization of the Kashmiri Pandit community.
MK Yogi informed the participants that the Relief Commissioner Migrants J&K has assured all concerned social organizations of full cooperation under the umbrella of the Mata Kheer Bhawani Ji Yatra Welfare Society to ensure the successful conduct of the Yatra.
Speaking on the occasion, Vinod Pandita highlighted the religious and cultural significance of the Yatra for Kashmiri Pandits.
Among others who attended the meeting were Muktesh Yogi, Ashutosh Pandita, Abhay Raina, Balkrishan Bhat, Rajesh Labroo, Sanjay Raina, Shuban Ji Bhat, Ravi Kachroo, Dazy Dhar, Surinder Pandita and Advocate Jyoti Dhar.
Meanwhile, a preparatory meeting on the upcoming Kheer Bhawani Yatra was recently organized by the Department of Relief, J&K, under the chairmanship of Dr Arvind Karwani, Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner, J&K, to review arrangements for pilgrims participating in the Yatra in June 2026.
During the meeting, Kiran Wattal submitted a detailed memorandum to the Relief Commissioner highlighting various issues concerning the Yatra.
Vijay Kumar Sharma, DC Relief, Assistant Commissioners of Relief (ACRs), relief officials and zonal officers attended the meeting physically and through online mode.
