Army’s 20th Bn Rashtriya Rifles (Dogra) celebrates Silver Jubilee

SRINAGAR, May 1: Army’s 20 Rashtriya Rifles (DOGRA) today celebrated its Silver Jubilee.
A handout stated that raised on May 1, 1994 in Varanasi, with Col. V.P Singh as its first Commanding Officer, the Unit has participated in various counter insurgency and counter terrorist operations and high altitude areas in the northern and eastern theatres.
The occasion commenced with a solemn wreath laying ceremony at the Unit Memorial wherein homage was paid by the Commanding Officer, Col. S.S Negi to the Unit’s martyrs.
Lt Gen Ranbir Singh, GOC-in-C Northern Command and Colonel of the Dogra Regiment and Dogra Scouts addressed a special ‘Sainik Sammelan’.
Lt Gen Ranbir Singh conveyed his warm greetings and good wishes to all officers, JCOs, other ranks, veterans and families of the Unit on the silver jubilee celebrations.
The Army Commander appreciated the dedication and hard work of all ranks, past and present, in their brave endeavour to safeguard the Nation’s borders while operating in hostile terrain and challenging conditions. He urged them to continue to discharge their duties with the same tenacity and resolve as per the highest standards of professionalism of the Indian Army.
The handout further stated that the battalion has played a pivotal role and won accolades for its outstanding operational performance in J&K.
The Army Commander appreciated their tenacity by awarding two Commendations to ‘Jawans’. The contribution of 20 Rashtriya Rifles (Dogra) was acknowledged by presenting a Silver Jubilee Trophy to the Battalion on behalf of The Dogra Regiment. To commemorate the 25 Glorious Years a ‘First Day Cover’ was also released by Lt Gen Ranbir Singh.
