Army pays tribute to soldier martyred in Pulwama encounter

SRINAGAR: The Army on Thursday paid rich tribute to a soldier martyred in an encounter with security forces in south Kashmir district of Pulwama.

Official sources said that Sepoy Sandeep Kumar, who attained martyrdom in an encounter with militants on Thursday morning, was paid a befitting tribute by the Army.

A top commander of the Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) was among three militants killed while a civilian died in the encounter, which ensued after security forces launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in village Dalipora, Pulwama.

They said homage was paid to the martyred hero in a solemn wreath laying ceremony at Badami Bagh Cantonment in Srinagar.

“General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 15 Corps Lt Gen K J S Dhillon, laid wreaths on behalf of the Corps Commander and all ranks of the Corps,” they said, adding that tributes were also paid by officials from civil administration and other security agencies. (AGENICES)
