Army holds ex-servicemen rally

SRINAGAR, Jan 12: Army’s Dagger division today organized a rally to honour ex-servicemen of Baramulla district to celebrate Army Day in Kashmir.
A spokesman of the Army said the Day is a salute to the valiant soldiers who sacrificed their lives to protect our country and the people living in it.
The day is celebrated on January 15th every year. On this day in 1948, Lieutenant General K M Cariappa became the first Indian Commander-in-Chief.
“Over 127 ex-servicemen from Baramulla district attended the rally and interacted with Major General Anil Chauhan, GOC, Dagger Division and reaffirmed their commitment towards the National Security,” the spokesman claimed.
He said prominent invitees included Colonel (Retd) Sheikh, Chairman, Zila Sainik Board and representatives of the District Administration.
“A medical camp and a painting competition for the children was also organised. Shahil Lone and Aisha Arshid were given prizes during the painting completion,” he said.
