Army distributes essential items among local people

BARAMULLA: In an attempt to reach out to the local populace and to help them fight the severe winters, 15 Rashtriya Rifles/7 Sector RR/Kilo Force, organized a programme to distribute huge quantity of essential items like blankets, suitcases, leather bags, sports and canvas shoes, sweat shirts etc at Vilgam Army Camp.

The aim of the event was to reassure the local populace that Indian Army is with them and committed to the welfare of the people. The event was a huge success in which about 1000 people from all age groups including Gujjars/Bakarwals from far flung areas, ex-servicemen, war widows, sarpanches and other local people participated indicating the bonhomie between Army and local populace. The items distributed by the Army, was provided by ‘Uday Foundation’- an NGO.

On the occasion, Brigadier DR Rai, Commander 7 Sector RR along with other civil dignitaries addressed the gathering. The event displayed the commitment of Indian Army towards the local populace and will help in further improving the trust between Jawan and Awaam.
