After visiting forward areas in Jammu region earlier, the Army Chief has been on three-day review visit to Siachen and East Ladakh forward posts and formations of Indian army. Siachen and Eastern Ladakh boundary are strategically crucial to our security because it is along this line that Pakistan and China, both adversely disposed towards India, are looking at us with eyeball to eyeball stance. Naturally, we have to be prepared to meet our defence requirements adequately in this crucial sector. Army Chief’s visit will hopefully strengthen the perceptions of Kargil Review Committee besides boosting the morale of the jawans deployed in the sector. We are confident that our defence forces are well entrenched to deny any opportunity to the enemy of creating mischief on the border. The border security strategy for J&K adopted by the Northern Command under the able leadership of Lt. Gen. Parnaik has brought the desired dividends. The country is safe in its hands.
