LEH, Sept 13: For better traffic movement in the city, the Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Sachin Kumar led an anti-encroachment drive at various streets in Leh.
He was accompanied by ADDC Leh, Moses Kunzang, Additional SP Leh, Suresh Kumar Chib, EO MC Leh, Ravinder Razdan, XEn R&B Leh, Tsering Angchuk, and officials of MVD, Leh.
During the inspection, the DC ordered immediate removal of encroachment from the footpaths and irregularly parked vehicles which were causing traffic snarls.
While inspecting the ongoing construction work of Subway near SNM Hospital and By-pass road from SNMH to Police Martyr Memorial (PMM Chowk) Housing Colony, the DC directed the executing agencies to expedite the work by putting extra men power and resources on war-footing basis to complete the project by the given timeline.
After a thorough checking of the entire Balkhang Chowk, Skalzanling, GPO and Skara roads, the Deputy Commissioner directed XEn R&B to put dividers and bollards at specific stretches. He also directed the Additional SP to ensure strict enforcement of traffic rules to enable a flawless movement of vehicles.
It is to mention here that demolition of Chandu Gali has already been started earlier this week in order to connect Balkhang Chowk with Polo-ground and multi-tier parking site which will not only facilitate the commuters with an alternate road but also solve the menace of traffic to a great extend.
The DC appealed the public for their cooperation in making Leh city free from traffic congestion.
