American Oncology Institute celebrates National Cancer Survivors’ Day

JAMMU, June 4: American Oncology Institute (AOI) at ASCOMS Hospital, Jammu celebrated National Cancer Survivors Day where more than 40 cancer survivors were honoured by giving mementos and lucky bamboo plants.
This day is celebrated on 1st Sunday of the month of June every year to recognize the feelings of cancer survivors and encourage them to interact with other cancer patients who are undergoing treatment to give them hope and encouragement that they can overcome the battle against cancer.
D K Batra (Secretary ASCOMS) was the chief guest on the occasion while Manik Batra and Pavan Malhotra were the guests of honor. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Pavan Malhotra described cancer as an epidemic with no protection from education and wealth. Applauding the role of Cancer Survivors he advised them to frequently interact with people undergoing treatment for moral boosting.
Speaking on the occasion, Manik Batra informed the gathering that setting up of comprehensive world class cancer centre was dream of late D V Batra and the dream was fulfilled in 2018 when American Oncology Institute had set up comprehensive cancer centre.
During the proceedings of the function, the cancer survivors were felicitated by the chief guest and AOI consultants. Later on chief guest honoured the medical professionals of AOI for their dedicated services in the field of Oncology. Dr Vikas Roshan and Dr Nadeem Shoket also encouraged the cancer patients and advised them not to consider cancer as end of life as this disease can be cured.
Dr Mayank Puri (Facility Director AOI Jammu) emphasized on the fact that awareness and early detection with proper treatment from specialist oncologist can help win the battle against cancer. Dr Neeraj Bishnoi said that AOI will keep on bringing in the latest technology and world-class cancer care to the people of Jammu region.
