JAMMU, June 4: Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh called on Union Minister for Youth and Sports Anurag Thakur and briefed him on initiatives taken by the administration of Ladakh for promoting sports in the Union Territory.
Mathur spoke of the need to promote mountaineering, ice skating, skiing, bouldering etc in the winter sports sector and also requested for support in promoting adventure sports in Ladakh.
A tweet by the Office of the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh said Anurag Thakur assured full support to Mathur and suggested for tying up with various international agencies for technical inputs and guidance to meet up with the global standards.
There has been lot of scope for winter adventure sports in the Union Territory of Ladakh and Anurag Thakur assured the Lieutenant Governor that the Central Government will extend full support to the UT administration in tapping the potential.
During his visit to New Delhi, a team of officials led by Chief Managing Director (CMD) of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) Alka Mittal called on Mathur.
“Progress on geothermal pilot project in Ladakh along with space heating and other matters were discussed during the meeting,” another tweet by the Office of Lt Governor of Ladakh said.
Meanwhile, Director General (DG) of Border Roads Organization (BRO) Lt Gen Rajeev Choudhary also met RK Mathur in New Delhi and briefed him on various ongoing work in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
Mathur appreciated the progress being made by the Border Roads Organization for crucial projects in the Union Territory.
Another tweet said the Member of Uttar Pradesh Sunni Waqf Board Sabiha Ahmed called on the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh in New Delhi.
She requested the Lieutenant Governor for his intervention in establishment of Waqf Board in Ladakh.
