JAMMU, Dec 7: All India Backward Classes Union (AIBCU) has appealed all the OBC leaders to quit the political parties they are associated with in view of their failure in raising the demand regarding implementation of Mandal Commission report in the State in toto and join struggle.
The appeal was made by the AIBCU, State president, Abdul Majid Malik, its general secretary, Prof Kali Dass and other leaders including Sadokh Chand and Vir Singh provincial president and general secretary respectively at a press conference here today.
They said the political parties including Congress and NC which ruled the State in past ignored the implementation of Mandal Commission report while other political parties including NPP never raised the voice in support of the same at any fora despite the fact that OBCs form a sizable number of population in the State.
They said though OBCs in the State voted for both BJP and PDP enmass to bring the coalition to power, it too has given a raw deal to these hapless people who are struggling for justice for decades together.
They said at present there is about 80 percent reservation of open category castes whose population is about 15 to 20 percent in the State and those who are availing such a huge reservation are still opposing due share to reserved categories.
They said that people belonging to upper castes are crying for implementation of High Court order of October 9 this year but are silent about the Apex Court judgment of 1992 Mandal Commission report.
They, while criticizing the BJP-PDP Government said it has set up all the Boards, but OBC Advisory and Development Board is nowhere. Though AIBCU has submitted a panel to BJP president Jugal Kishore Sharma but he has not taken any action in the matter till date.
The AIBCU leaders, while expressing concern over the callousness of Government towards them said no enhancement in creamy layer from 4.5 lac to six lac has been made which the Central government has already enhanced about three years back, nor directions have been issued to tehsildars for renewal of OSC certificate on the basis of income certificate and no action has been taken on AIBCU demand to issue one certificate on the name of OBC instead of OSC.
