JAMMU, Aug 24: President of the All J&K Kshatriya Sainik Sangathan, Advocate Suksham Singh, along with social activist Sushil Singh Charak met Yashpal Jadon, the Project Director of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) for the Jammu-Pathankote region.
The meeting focused on the urgent removal of the toll plaza situated at Sarore in Samba District.
Sushil Singh Charak emphasized the necessity of removing the toll plaza, citing the poor condition of the Jammu-Kathua National Highway from Kathua to Jammu.
This stretch of road, according to him, is currently under construction, causing significant inconvenience to the people of J&K.
He stressed that imposing a toll under these circumstances seems unjustified, as NHAI has yet to provide an alternate route. Sushil Singh Charak requested the immediate suspension of toll tax collection at the Sarore toll plaza until the restoration of the Jammu-Kathua National Highway is completed.
Advocate Suksham Singh highlighted NHAI’s negligence, pointing out that the collapse of the Tarnah Nullah Bridge was a result of errors in the scour depth calculation. He also expressed concern about the construction of a new toll plaza at Thandi Khui, where the foundation has already been laid.
Following the meeting, Advocate Suksham Singh and Sushil Singh Charak addressed their supporters outside the NHAI office. They extended their full support to the decision made by the Yuva Rajput Sabha to remove the toll plaza at Sarore.
