AKM organizes week-long theatre workshop for youth

REASI, Aug 27: A weak long theatre workshop for youth is being organized by Abhinaya Kala Manch Reasi in association with the J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages at Government GZSM Degree College Reasi from today.
During the workshop, which was jointly inaugurated this morning by Dr Prem Sing, Vice Principal & Dr Chander Mohan of GZSM Degree College Reasi, training will be imparted to enthusiastic youth in different theatre art forms. About 48 student / youth are participating in the workshop.
Shadab Khan and Neeraj Kesar, Camp Director, informed that the training sessions will focus on Acting techniques, Body Language, Observational skills, Voice Modulation, Diction and Speech, music, dance. The participants will be taught the techniques like how to use the props and properties, speech therapy, improvisation of stories, body movements etc and more will be used in experimental dialogue, wherein the theatre aspirants will learn about what all happens behind the scenes of a play,” they said and added that from make-up to costumes and from set props to music, everything will be a part of this theatre workshop.
The workshop is being conducted by renowned theatre personalities including Ravi Mohan, Raj Ohlak, Akram Khan, Dr Rakesh Bharti, Shadab Khan and Rakesh Kumar Puri who will guide the participants. Apart from theoretical knowledge, the participants will also be a part of the practical exercise that will be held during the weak end theatre workshop.
During the workshop, one improvising play will also be rehearsed so that the participants can get a proper knowledge of the backstage craft. During the rehearsals, the participants will be informed about the structure and construction process closely. The play will be staged on concluding day. In this theatrical presentation, participants will be given an opportunity to participate.
After inaugurating the workshop today, Dr Chander Mohan said that curricular activities along with studies are also equally important on the all-round development of the students. Dr Suman Bala I/C Culture Degree College Reasi also encouraged the participating youth and hoped that the workshop will prove beneficial for all.
Other who were present on the occasion, included Dr Vinay Lata, Dr Esar-ul-Ayub, Dr Rakesh Bharti, Dr Suraj Partap Singh, Dr Anu and others.
