PPCPL: KC Royals, Simula Strikers emerge top contenders for semis

JAMMU, Aug 27: Outplaying their rivals convincingly to register their consecutive wins, KC Royals and Simula Strikers have emerged as the top contenders for the semifinal berths in the ongoing Police Public Cricket Premier League, being organized under the Chairmanship of Dr SD Singh Jamwal, IGP Jammu at KC Sports Club, here.
The executive/organizing committee members of the league include Bhim Sen Tuti DIG Jammu; Vivek Gupta SSP Jammu; Rajesh Sharma SO to IGP Jammu; Arjun Choudhary MD KC Sports Club; Hilal Rather, Ramesh Kotwal SP Headquarters Jammu; Dushyant Sharma SP Rural; Rajesh Dhar, Chairman Media Committee JKCA; Prashant Mahajan CPO Jammu; Madan Mohan DySP DAR Jammu; Sudhir Singh, Sanjeev Mahajan, Vijay Saberwal and Rajesh Gill, Chief Prosecuting Officer and the Organizing Secretary.
Earlier, in the first match KC Royals defeated Wheelocity Vishal Bulls in an easy contest by 9 wickets.
Wheelocity Vishal Bulls scored a meagre total of 62 runs in 19.1 overs. Sachin top scored with 19 runs, while Kawalpreet contributed 12 runs to the total. For KC Royals, Nityam Abrol and Abay Tandon took 3 wickets each, while Arjun and Aqib shared 1 wicket each.
In reply, KC Royals chased the target in 12.1 overs by losing one wicket to win the match by 9 wickets. Ranjom Singh from Chandhigarh scored 37 runs, while Abhay Tandon contributed unbeaten 35 runs. Sachin Sharma claimed the lone wicket to fall. Abhay Tandon was declared as the man of the match and was presented with a cash prize of Rs 2000 sponsored by ACC Cements.
In another match, Simula Strikers defeated Vriddhi Royals in a close contest by 7 runs.
Batting first, Simula Strikers scored 115 runs in 20 overs. Amar top scored with 45 runs, while Rohan Gill contributed 28 runs to the total. From Vridhi Royals, Shivam Koul took 4 wickets, while Deepak took 2 wickets and Dhruv claimed 1 wicket.
In reply, Vriddhi Royals managed to score 109 runs to lose the match by a narrow margin of 7 runs. Tarun Bisht from Delhi scored 24 runs, while Harsh Singh and Shivam scored 23 and 20 runs respectively.
From Simula Strikers, Snoop took 3 wickets, while Musaif and Jasbir claimed 1 wicket each. Amar from Lucknow was declared as the man of the match, winning a cash prize of Rs 2000.

The matches were officiated by Sadiq Hussain, Saleem Ur Rehman, Sham Singh, Ashok Kumar and Sanju.
In tomorrow’s fixture, Elite Tigers will take on MS Stars at 9 am and Count Fitness Hurricans will lock horns with Horizon Kings at 1:30 pm.
