REASI, May 22: Workers of AFCON company, engaged in construction work of Udhampur- Srinagar- Baramulla Rail Link Project in Granh Morh of Reasi, today protested for release of their pending wages.

The protesting workers blocked the road near the project site and also did not allow the company vehicles to move. They raised slogans demanding release of their pending salary by the company and the contractor.
Earlier also, these workers had protested in lockdown demanding the release of ration and wages. Even as they were given ration after that protest, the salary was not released till date.
Workers said that when they ask for salary to the contractor, he says that the company has not released the same whereas the company claims that the money for their wages has been released to the contractor. “In such a situation, we are only sufferers and our wages are not being released. It is difficult to raise the family due to non-payment of wages,” they said.
Later on, police reached the spot and pacified the protestors by assuring early redressal of their grievance.
