Advisor Farooq visits Kishtwar, takes serious note of slackness in completion of works

Kishtwar, Jan 14: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Khan today visited Kishtwar district and reviewed the performance of various developmental works and welfare schemes in a meeting with HoDs and District Officers.
During meeting Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Ashok sharma apprised the Advisor about various schemes under implementation in the district by various departments besides highlighting achievements in various sectors.
While reviewing the progress of the languishing projects in the various sectors which includes 45 works amounting to Rs 11982.39 crores in departments like Animal Husdbandry, Industries and Commerce, Power, PHE, PWD, Education, Technical Education, Tourism etc, Advisor asked the implementing agencies to revise all the completion deadliness from December 31 to October 31 as working season ends in month of October in Kishtwar besides asked them to complete all the works on time.
Taking strong note of the slackness and the dismal performance of the various executing agencies and the private contractors in completing the alloted works, he directed the executing agencies to take stringent action against them besides cancel their contract and invite fresh tenders,wherever necessary.
Advisor also took review of various bottlenecks faced by the departments in the execution and the implementation of various developmental projects and assured them that he will take up the issues with the concerned Advisors so that the immediate resolution could be reached out.
13 delegations of BDC Chairpersons/DDC Members, 3 deputations of Sarpanchs/ Panchs, 1 delegation from construction worker’s union and 7 other delegations of political parties and others social organisations and senior and prominent citizens also met the Advisor and apprised him of their grievances and concerns seeking an early redressal to the same.
Delegation lead by PRIs apprised Advisor about the issues which mainly includes the employment of locals in the ongoing Hydro Electric Power Projects on priority basis, inclusion of left out families in RR plans in the area of Dangduru , Dul and Keru, establishment of telecommunication and connectivity facilities in far flung areas of Dachhan, Marwah and Warwan, upgradation of schools in far flung areas, establishment of Fair Price shops at Kuntwara, early release of compensation for the land and physical structure, completion of languishing projects, augmentation of Health Sub centres by providing adequate staff and infrastructure, repairment of road from Dunadi to Kither, widening of road at Bhandarkoot to avoid any untoward accidents, water scarcity at Drabshalla and Palmar due to unavailability of pipes, replacement of the wooden poles and issuance of new electric poles, sanctioning of Grid Station at Drabshalla, establishment of Fire Service Station at Mughal maidan and Chatroo, early release of MGNREGA payments, completion and implementation of WSS Naigad, release of pending honorarium of the BDC and the Sarpanchs among others.
Advisor gave them a patient hearing and redressed most of the grievances onspot besides assured them that rest of grievances would be redressed in time bound manner.
An amount of Rs 40.77 lakh sanctioned for various schemes of Building and Other Construction Worker’s Welfare Board was also released in favour of 85 beneficiaries by Advisor during the programme.
