JAMMU, Mar 30: The incumbent administration is ignoring the developmental needs of the rural population of Jammu particularly RS Pura.
This was said by Bimla Luthra UT Vice President Women Wing National Conference in a meeting at Village Salama Chack in RS Pura. Among others present were Parveen, Rita, Shakutla, Reetu and Bharti.
Addressing the gathering of the party functionaries, Luthra said the skyrocketing inflation is creating miseries for the poor people particularly the farmers and housewives. She said the out of pocket expenditures on escalating prices of fertilizers, pesticides, medicines and cattle fodder have further compounded the worries of people.
She cautioned that the situation will get worse with each passing day. “Nothing substantial is being done to provide jobs to unemployed youth in army, police and auxiliary forces. Those already employed including Homeguards are on roads for their salaries and other employment benefits,” she added.
Despite BJP’s claims on development, Luthra said that RS Pura has remained choked with various civic problems for the past eight years. “Due to non-availability of basic amenities including water, power, roads, lanes and drains, etc, the residents of RS Pura constituency are going through tough times. The unscheduled power cuts and erratic water supply also came to the fore while interacting with my sisters here,” she added.
The long pending demand of our farmers of declaring RS Pura as ‘Basmati Zone’ at par with ‘Saffron Zone’ in Kashmir remains unattended, she added.
