JAMMU, Apr 24 Authorities today demolished several properties of alleged drug peddlers at Indra Nagar, Malikpur and Brij Nagar areas falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Miran Sahib in Jammu district as part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan.

Officials said the properties were allegedly built using proceeds of the narcotics trade.
Amid heavy deployment of police and CRPF personnel, a joint team of district administration led by SDM RS Pura Anuradha Thakur, accompanied by SDPO RS Pura Gurmeet Singh and police personnel, reached Indra Nagar area in the morning and razed two properties belonging to Sunny Sharma and Sandeep Sharma, who are brothers.
Officials said the duo was recently arrested and booked under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, BNS and Arms Act after recovery of heroin, a pistol and live ammunition from their possession.
They said the accused were involved in drug-related activities in the area.
In another operation at Malikpur, authorities demolished a property belonging to one Dilbagh Singh, who was stated to be associated with the two brothers Sunny Sharma and Sandeep Sharma.
Officials said he is a history-sheeter with multiple FIRs registered against him at police stations in Jammu and other districts.
He was also arrested recently in an NDPS case after completing detention under the PIT NDPS Act, they said.
Meanwhile, later in the evening, another raid was conducted at Brij Nagar locality near Balole Khad area, where several temporary hutments raised on State land were razed to the ground.
SDM RS Pura, Anuradha Thakur said the action was taken after repeated complaints were received from local residents regarding suspicious activities in the locality and police verification confirming such allegations.
She said similar drives would continue in future to save younger generations from the menace of drugs.
The SDPO RS Pura Gurmeet Singh said this was the third such operation at Balole Khad, which had become a drug hotspot over the years.
Pertinently, earlier on Apr 23 (Thursday), three residential structures linked to alleged drug peddlers were demolished at Rajiv Nagar area of the district.
