JAMMU, Mar 12: A meeting of executive members of All Displaced Kashmiri Pandit United Forum was held at its HQs at Durganagar, under the chairmanship of DN Kissu. In meeting it was informed that Chief Electoral Officer Jammu and Kashmir through print and electronic media informed voters of the State from time to time to check and verify their names in electoral rolls available at various places for review and apply for corrections if any.
The meeting was informed that it is surprising that most of the names have been deleted and those if traced after hectic efforts it has been found that either name, parentage or even addresses have deliberately been entered wrong with the result just to locate ones name it is too difficult and cumbersome. The participants said that the Kashmiri Pandits are not so ignorant or illiterate to fill the form incorrect or illegible.
In September 2013 displaced Voters were directed to submit new electoral forms along with two photo copies per voter for issue of voter ID cards. All displaced families deposited required forms and photos well in time in designated offices. It is astonishing that neither the corrections have been inserted nor voter ID cards have been issued till date. Spellings of names, spouses and parentage of voters have deliberately been manipulated in calculated and provocative manner which clearly indicates that the State and Central Governments are sabotaging and creating hurdles in the entire process of voting rights of displaced community. It is further confirmed by the fact that the above said forms of a number of constituencies were reported missing by the concerned electoral officer and all such voters were directed to fill said forms with photo copies of all voters second time in January 2014, no required action seems to have been taken so far, it added.
The forum has invited attention the Chief Electoral Officer J&K to look into the entire gamut personally, identify the erring officials and fix the responsibility.
