JAMMU, July 15: Sunil Kumar, ADGP Railway held a meeting with all officers of GRP Katra in the office chamber of SSP GRP Katra in connection with security review of arrangements made by GRP Katra during Amarnath Ji Yatra-2023. A threadbare discussion was made over the security arrangements made at Railway Station Katra and Railway Station Udhampur for the safeguard of Railway Passengers and measures being taken for minimization of overcrowding mainly causes due to arrival of special trains and cancellation of trains.
The ADGP Railways emphasised the need of mechanism to manage/scatter the gathering of passengers/yatris at Railway Station Katra/ Udhampur so as to avoid the stampede like situation. He stressed upon the utilisation of Public Address System at the Railway Stations particularly at platform area and other imperative points to make the yatris/passengers aware of timing of the departure of special trains and cancellation of trains etc. He also briefed about the sensitivity of the Yatra duties as well as other law and order duties.
Another meeting was held by the ADGP Railway with SSP GRP Katra, Sanjay Kumar Kotwal, senior officers of Railway authorities including ADRM Jammu, Baldev Raj, DTM Jammu Parteek Shrivastav and other officers of GRP & RPF at Railway Station and issued on spot direction to the Railway authorities and GRP to devise a mechanism to have a separate entry and exit in Railway station building to ease of the congestion.
Furthermore, a contingency plan was approved on spot for smooth exit and entry of passengers in case of two or more trains reach Railway station simultaneously. The officers of GRP, RPF and Railway officers were briefed to act accordingly to the SOP designed in the contingency plan.
Later, all the officers along with ADGP Railway had a round of Railway Station, platform and other pilgrims facilities centres and enquire about the functioning and facilities being provided to the pilgrims.
