LEH, July 15: A delegation from Partapur, highly skilled casual workers, and a candidate aspiring for a job in the Forensic Science lab called on the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at Raj Niwas in Leh.
Leading one of the delegations, the Sarpanch of Partapur Village, Ghulam Mohammad, raised several issues concerning his constituency. He highlighted the need for blacktopping the 10km long internal road in Partapur village, as well as the road from TCP Partapur to the Army establishment.
Additionally, he requested the construction of a new building for the Government Higher Secondary School in Partapur.
The Lt Governor acknowledged the importance of these projects and mentioned that recommendations would be sought from the Chairman, LAHDC Leh to prioritize them. He instructed the DC Leh to address the issue of constructing the new school building, with the aim of including it in the next year’s budget.
Razia Banoo, representing the highly skilled casual workers of the R&B Department in Kargil, also met with the Lt Governor. She highlighted the discrepancy in wages, stating that while the wages of unskilled and skilled workers had been enhanced, the wages of highly skilled workers had not been increased. She requested the Lt Governor’s intervention in rectifying this disparity.
The Lt Governor assured Razia that the matter would be taken up in the upcoming labor issues meeting for appropriate action.
Another visitor, Kunzes Dolma, a postgraduate in Forensic Science, informed the Lt Governor about her qualifications and experience in the field. She stated that she had completed her Master’s degree in Science from the Institute of Forensic Science at Panjab University and had also cleared the Forensic Aptitude and Caliber Test.
Kunzes expressed her eagerness to work at the soon-to-be-established Forensic Science Laboratory in Ladakh. In response, the Lt Governor inquired about the status of the lab’s establishment and the allocation of posts related to it.
ADGP DS Jamwal informed the Lt Governor that the project was ongoing and highlighted the requirement for experienced staff to handle the lab’s hi-tech equipment. The Lt Governor suggested that qualified youth from Ladakh should be considered for positions such as laboratory assistants alongside experienced individuals.
