Jammu, Feb 20: Gyanesh Kumar, Additional Secretary Home, Government of India, today met the Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu at the Raj Bhavan.
The Lt Governor and Kumar discussed wide ranging issues related to the present security scenario in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Ravinder Raina, J&K President, BJP along with Shakti Parihar, former MoS also called on Lieutenant Governor.
They sought Lt Governor’s intervention towards resolving the long pending issues to DRWs, ITI Trained Workers, CP workers and other such employees working in different Government department like PHE, PDD and PWD for the smooth functioning of these departments.
They also submitted a memorandum of demands pertaining to reviewing of SRO 202; service issues of NHM employees & Para Medical employees appointed under SRO-384; abolition of Sarore Toll Plaza for violating the norms; strengthening of VDCs and payment related issues of VDC members etc.
The Lt Governor assured them to review the genuine issues and demands put forth by them for their early redressal.
Meanwhile, Junaid Azim Mattu, Mayor Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) also called on the Lt Governor and briefed him about the City Vision Plan formulated with a vision to transform Srinagar into eco-friendly, resilient and socio economically vibrant city
He gave an over view of the existing infrastructure, man power and revenue requirements, source of funding and informed the Lt Governor about the achievements, goals and challenges under the plan pertaining to installation of street lighting, storm water drainage, sanitation and solid waste, Swachh Baharat Mission, civil work and beautification, building permits and enforcement etc.
The Lt Governor emphasized the high importance of ensuring round the clock provision of basic civic amenities to the people and asked the Mayor to take all the necessary measures to overcome the challenges and achieve the set goals which would ultimately benefit the public at large.
A delegation of Municipal Committee Chenani led by its President, Manik Gupta apprised the Lt Governor of their concerning issues including release of payment for community hall, beatification of Chenani Town, construction of circular road from Police Station Chenani to Bus-Stand, provision of adequate number of Doctors at SDH Chenani, enhancement of education facilities etc.
The Lt Governor interacted with the members of the delegation and assured them to address the genuine issues projected by them.
Meanwhile, Vivek Bimrahw, Senior Vice President and Group Head of Axis Bank called on Lieutenant Governor and briefed him about the functioning of the Axis Bank and various services being provided by the bank to its customers in J&K.
The Lt Governor observed that the entire banking sector has a key role to play in maintaining a healthy economy and stressed on the importance of ensuring close monitoring of the fiscal health of the bank.
Functionaries of NBCC India Ltd., headed by Yogesh Sharma also briefed Lt Governor about the status of works being undertaken by NBCC in J&K.
The Lt Governor asked them to adopt innovative approach, besides ensuring the adherence to highest standards of quality and timely delivery in all of their ongoing and future projects.
Rakesh Suraj, Regional Director, Engineering Export Promotion Council, India (EEPC India) informed the Lt Governor about various activities undertaken by EEPC for the promotion of engineering goods. He also submitted a proposal for organizing 50th EEPC India Regional Award for Export Excellence in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Lt Governor while interacting with the Regional Director observed that the UT Government is taking several initiatives and putting a sustained focus on Industrial development and investment promotion to attract the best of investment opportunity in the industry for the business expansion in J&K.
