Action plan needed to manage agri, livestock sectors: Bhalla

JAMMU, Apr 20: Former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla today urged the people of J&K to show self discipline and refrain from going outside to stem the spread of the novel coronavirus, which has already taken hundreds of precious lives in the country.
Anticipating India may see an increase in the number of corona virus cases from mid-May and the healthcare system could come under significant pressure, he appealed people to stay home as much as possible during this pandemic.
“The more people show self-discipline, the easier it will be to manage the crisis,” he said, adding the best way to tackle the pandemic was to practice social distancing and follow other allied measures.
Demanding evacuation of J&K students, labourers and traders stranded in different parts of the country, Bhalla sought special transportation arrangement for the return of all the stranded as the states across the country are doing everything possible to ensure safe return of stranded students, traders, devotees back to their native places.
Bhalla demanded Govt to draw an action plan to combat vector borne diseases in anticipation of the problems which could arise in near future.
He said summer months will be followed by monsoon when on account of water collection, there will be increased proliferation of mosquitoes, resultantly vector borne diseases like malaria, dengue etc are experienced in towns all over India and the experience in J&K is no different.
He said garbage and insanitary conditions encourage growth of mosquitoes and these authorities must address the garbage disposal issues as well”, he said and demanded comprehensive action plan in this regard.
He also expressed serious concern over the non restoration of the high speed internet in J&K UT.
Meanwhile, Bhalla today distributed food items along with fodder for animals at Kunjwani in Langar and Ambika Colony wards 55 and 68.
Prominent among those who accompanied Bhalla included Block President Satish Sharma, Corporater Pritam Singh, Puran Chand, Kuldeep Chib, Mohinder Ram, Vishal Arora, Aman Bawa, Raju Shani, Lucky Warne, Kalla Choudhary, Roshi Verma, Neeraj Kumar, Sunil Angral, Tanveer Kumar and Ajit Singh.
