KATHUA, Dec 7: Pranav Sharma, a social activist of Bani has demanded action under law against the people responsible for encroachment of the land of Thakurdwara Narsingh Ji Maharaj, Mandir Bani.
Talking to reporters at Bani today Sharma said that 59 people have encroached the land of the temple in connivance of its care taker. He said the police should register FIR and make arrests of the people responsible for the encroachment of the temple land.
He said the SDM Bani had constituted an Inquiry Committee to investigate the matter and the Committee had also in its report established that the land of the temple has been encroached in connivance with care taker of the temple. He said that no one can take possession of the temple land as such action can hurt the religious sentiments of the people.
Sharma said acting on the Committee report constituted by SDM Bani to investigate the matter, he (SDM) has recommended that suitable action be initiated against the Mohtam Mandir for the acts of omission and commission and a new Management Committee which included Government officials be constituted to mange the affairs of the temple.
Sharma said on the basis of the SDM’s recommendations, DC Kathua has issued directives to SSP Kathua to arrest the land grabbers and take action against them under law. He showed his concern over the delay in arrest of land grabbers and demanded that they be put behind the bars to safeguard the religious property and land be restored to the holy temple.
