Abhinav leading for post of Bar president

JAMMU, Apr 27: Elections of J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu, were held today for the post of president and other office bearers of the premier body of Lawyers in the State.
In the elections, which were held smoothly, 1985 votes were polled, out of total 2323. Till last reports came in, Abhinav Sharma was leading with 135 votes from his nearest rival Vikram Sharma for the post of president.
Till the end of first three rounds, counting of total 1100 votes was made and Abhinav Sharma had secured 553 votes while Vikram Sharma was polled 418 votes. A K Sawhney and Shakti Gupta, who were other two contenders for the post of president, were trailing at third and fourth number by securing only 120 and four votes, respectively.
For the post of vice-president, Rohit Bhagat was leading from Monish Chopra with a slight margin of 17 votes while Rakeshwar Singh Durswal was trailing at third place with 284 votes.
For the post of joint secretary, Pardeep Majotra was leading with a huge margin of 288 votes from his nearest rival Snigdha Shekhar, who was polled 278 votes. Bhavishya Sudan and Varun Kotwal were polled 206 and 262 votes, respectively for the post.
Sushant Samnotra with 481 votes was leading for the post of treasurer , which is witnessing a triangular contest. Nikash Sharma and Sahil Bavoria were polled 406 and 203 votes, respectively.
There were total 16 candidates in the fray for different posts of Bar Association, while outgoing president, Senior Advocate B S Slathia was Returning Officer for the elections.
Final results are likely to be declared in the late tonight as counting of votes was still going on till last reports came in.
