SAMBA, June 13: The people of Samba held a protest demonstration in front of PHE Division Samba today against the water scarcity in the town.
The protest was led by Lovelu Sambyal, Sarpanch Kheli Mandi. The protestors including men and women shouted slogans against the PHE Department and alleged that in this scorching heat the people of Samba town are facing total water scarcity for days together.

They alleged that despite the repeated pleas the authorities failed to restore the water supply to the people of the town. They warned to intensify the agitation and even block the Highway in case the immediate steps were not taken to restore the water supply to the town.
The protestors said that 100 bore wells have been dug in industrial belt Samba and the water goes waste there daily while the people are suffering for a glass of water in the town.
They said the tube wells in Samba have become defunct as the water level has depleted there due to digging of bore wells. The PHE authorities do not bother to listen the pleas of people and the officers don’t give audience to the Sarpanches and Panches.
However, the protestors dispersed later on the assurance of Executive Engineer, PHE Division Samba that the water supply will be restored in the area soon and he has given instructions to the subordinate staff in this regard.
