JAMMU, June 13: Jammu and Kashmir Philosophers’ Association (JKPA) has appealed Governor Satya Pal Malik to introduce Philosophy subject in all the newly opened colleges in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Philosophy is the mother of all subjects. It deals with philosophy of religion, ethics, Indian philosophy, Yoga Philosophy, which is the need of today’s youth,” the Association said, adding that there is no PG course of Philosophy in J&K universities except Katra University.
The Association said that this subject is facing a lot of discrimination. “While other subjects like French, Gojri are getting a number of posts in J&K PSC, Philosophy is getting only 4 to 5 posts. There is only one Professor of Philosophy in Jammu namely Dr Kiran Bakshi,” the Association said and appealed the Government to introduce Philosophy as subject in all newly opened colleges in the State.
