Water testing kits to be provided to Panchayats: Taj

KARGIL, Sept 25: Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Taj Mohi-ud-Din today asked Panchayats to ensure the preservation and cleanliness of water sources and bodies in villages. He said water testing kits would be provided to all Sarpanchs and ASHA workers to ensure the standardization of water quality being provided to people.
Inaugurating a workshop on maintaining cleanliness of water sources here today, the Minister impressed upon people to cooperate in preserving water resources in the State. The workshop was organized by Community and Capacity Development Unit.
Minister for CA&PD, Qamar Ali Akhoon also addressed the gathering and stressed on the need to preserve water sources in the State.
CEC, LAHDC, Kargil, Kachoo Ahmad Ali Khan also spoke on the occasion.
During the tour, the Minister also laid foundation stone of Rs. 6.94 crore water supply scheme which is expected to benefit the people of Kargil town and Baro village.
Earlier, the Minister reviewed the schemes and projects of the Departments under his charge in a meeting with LAHDC, Kargil.
