Srinagar, Apr 2: Over hundred traders of Malangpora area of Awantipora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district today observed a shutdown seeking flood relief.
The traders who include shopkeepers, band saw mill owners and industrialists blocked Awantipora-Pulwama road for four hours and shouted slogans against District Administration for not releasing flood relief approved by Governor NN Vohra.”The flood relief has been transferred into the bank of accounts of almost all beneficiaries but we the traders of Malangpora are still without flood relief,” the protesters said.
Due to road block, dozens of vehicles got stranded on vital Awantipora-Pulwama road and commuters faced lot of inconvenience. Later, the Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Neeraj Kumar, rushed to the spot and assured the traders that the relief would be released within one or two week’s time.
