JAMMU, July 16: Teachers Association of SKUAST Jammu has strongly condemned the statement of former MLA Harshdev Singh regarding deterioration in functioning of the university as well as all its KVKs.
In this connection, an emergency meeting of SKUAST-TAJ was held today under the chairmanship of its president Vikas Sharma. The meet observed that such an irresponsible and false allegations from a seasoned politician are uncalled for being defamatory and demoralising to an upcoming agriculture varsity of Jammu province.
Vikas Sharma alleged that some vested interests were raking up old issues for settling personal grudge against the authorities of the Institution even as the matter was already being probed by the State Vigilance Organization. “If at all, there are some financial issues then they are to be investigated internally by the university as well as external audit panel and the politicians need to stay away from these issues in principle as it can be termed as interference in the routine functioning of an autonomous institution, he said.
Dr Vivak Manohar Arya, general secretary of the Association, informed that at present more than 57 externally funded projects, 11 All India Coordinated Projects, 6 Network Projects and 7 Volunteer Centres are sanctioned to the university with an approximate budget of more than 20 corers out of which five externally funded projects are sanctioned to the KVKs of the university which in itself is a remarkable achievement while the scientific staff of the KVKs inspite of all the hardships is performing very well. Dr Arya further said that the institution was giving maximum output with in limited resources and no flood relief despite huge loss of infrastructure and high value equipments to an extent of Rs 25 crores in September last.
Dr Pradeep Kumar Rai, Dr Rajeev Bharat, Dr Devinder Sharma, Dr Poonam Parihar, Dr Jai Kapoor, Dr Vinod Gupta, Dr Vijay Bahadur Singh and others also spoke in the meeting.
