62 kanals forest land retrieved; 110 clefts of deodar seized

Udhampur, July 16: The Forest Department and protection force got vacated 62 kanals of forest land during an anti-encroachment drive and seized 110 clefts of deodar in Ramnagar Tehsil.
On receivinig specific inputs, a team of Forest Protection Force (FPF), headed by Inspector Operation Sudesh Kumar and territorial field staff of Basantgarh range under overall supervision of Deputy Director, Forest Protection Force Udhampur Shahzad Chowdhary, seized 110 clefts of deodar timber in compartments nos. 17 and 47 of Basantgarh range, Ramnagar forest division. The timber was unclaimed and inquiry regarding this has been initiated. Further proceedings under Section-26 of J&K Forest Act have been initiated in this regard.
Anti-encroachment drive was also carried out by a team constituted by Divisional Forest Officer, Ramngar, Vivek Modi under the guidance of the Conservator of Forest, East Circle, Jammu. The team led by Range Officer, Ramnagar South Range, Satish Kumar visited compartment 49/S at village Rang of Ramnagar tehsil and removed the encroachment.
The team removed the barbed wire and brush wood fencing put up by encroachers Shanker Singh (30 kanals) and Sudesh Singh (32 kanal). Both encroachers are residents of Mohra Malti, Village Rang of tehsil Ramnagar.
