FMPHWs protest for release of pending salary

JAMMU, July 16: Agitating Female Multi-purpose Health Workers (FMPHWs) in sub-centres under Family Welfare Department, who are demanding release of their pending salary for the last more than an year, held a dharna at the Directorate of Health complex, here today.
A number of FMPHWs from Jammu and Samba assembled there under the leadership of Neelam Kumari, secretary general of FMPHWs Association and Sushil Sudan, president of Jammu Kashmir Medical Employees Federation.
The protesting FMPHWs raised slogans in support of their demand and also took out a protest rally seeking release of their salary, which has been pending for the last more than 16 months. The day-long protest and the rally were organized under the banner of Jammu Kashmir FMPHWs Welfare Association, affiliated to Jammu Kashmir Medical Employees Federation.
A number of other Medical employees also took part in the protest dharna.
On the occasion, it was unanimously resolved to hold next massive dharnas across Jammu division on July 21 wherein next course of action would also be decided and announced.
While addressing the dharna, Sushil Sudan said that FMPHWs were struggling for their salary but the authorities were victimizing them. He appealed the Chief Minister and Health Minister for their personal intervention to ensure release of the pending salary of FMPHWs. He also demanded revocation of transfer orders of FMPHWs of district Kathua.
Meanwhile, the JKMEF announced to hold protest rallies for two-hours across the Jammu division on July 21.
Those who took part in the day-long protest, included Kamla Devi, Kanta Devi, Sarso Devi, Nirmal Kour, Geeta Massih, Kuldeep Kour, Swarn Kour, Sarfo Devi, Bharti, Sharda Devi, Rajni Bala, Shoba, Kanta and others while JKMEF leaders Vinod Kumar Sharma, Yougal Bakshi, Jarnail Choudhary, Rakesh Bakshi, Parshotam Sharma and others also attended the dharna.
Reports from Udhampur said that a similar protest dharna was organized there at the office complex of Chief Medical Officer, Udhampur. The dharna was held under the leadership of Shyam Lal Perashar, district president Medical Employed Federation and Meema Devi, district president FMPHWs Association.
In the dharna a large number of FMPHWs from different blocks participated and raised slogans for release of their pending salary.
