JAMMU, Jan 12: An employee of Jammu Development Authority (JDA), who recognizes himself as sorcerer was arrested from Bhawani Nagar, falling under the jurisdiction of Janipur police station.
As per police sources, a woman lodged a complaint with police station Janipur that a JDA employee, who recognizes himself as sorcerer tried to rape her on pretext of curing her ailment.
The accused asked the woman to have physical relations, if she wants to cure her ailment. The lady objected and the accused allegedly tried to outrage her modesty.
The woman raised alarm and on hearing the cries of the woman, the people rushed to the accused house and informed the Janipur police about the matter.
On getting information, police team from Janipur police station rushed to the spot and arrested the accused, who has been identified as Amar Nath Sharma, son of Bheer Chand Sharma, a resident of Bhawani Nagar, Janipur.
The locals informed the police that the accused attempted these types of crime earlier also and demanded strict action against him.
After recording the statement of the victim, a case under FIR number 7/15 under Section 354 RPC has been registered at police station Janipur and investigation started.
Police team led by SI Arun Sharma and Inspector Manzoor Ahmed Kohli made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO West Shri Ram, SP City Shiv Kumar Singh Chouhan and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
