Man held with sharp-edged weapon

JAMMU, May 1: Police claimed they have arrested a man and recovered a sharp-edged weapon from his possession from Bahu Fort area here.
A police official said a team from Police Station Bahu Fort was on routine patrolling duty when it laid a naka at Sector No. 8 behind RBI Quarters late on April 29.
During checking, an e-auto rickshaw bearing registration number JK02DE-3295 was intercepted, he said, adding that on search, a sharp-edged weapon measuring around 8 to 9 inches was recovered from the possession of the driver, identified as Gurprasad Singh, a resident of Bhour Camp, Ward No. 1, Tehsil Gadigarh.
He said as the auto driver failed to give any satisfactory explanation for carrying the weapon, it was seized on the spot.
A case under Sections 4/25 of the Arms Act has also been registered at Police Station Bahu Fort and further investigation is in progress, the police official added.
