Police conduct drug screening drive

SRINAGAR, May 1: Police today conducted a drug screening drive in Ganderbal and sought public assistance to trace an absconding accused in a narcotics case in Shopian under the ongoing “Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyaan”.
Officials said a urine drug screening initiative was carried out in Ganderbal in collaboration with a medical team to facilitate early detection of substance abuse and ensure timely counselling and rehabilitation.
The screening was conducted in a professional and confidential manner, maintaining the dignity and privacy of individuals, they said.
Meanwhile, in Shopian, police issued a public notice seeking information about an accused evading arrest in a case registered under the NDPS Act at Police Station Shopian.
Police said despite sustained efforts, the accused remains at large and appealed to the public to share any information regarding his whereabouts, assuring that the identity of informers will be kept confidential.
Officials warned that legal action will be taken against anyone found harbouring or assisting the accused.
