CLUJ signs MoU with SSS-NIRE

JAMMU, Apr 24: The Cluster University of Jammu (CLUJ) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Sardar Swaran Singh National Institute of Renewable Energy (SSS-NIRE), Kapurthala, Punjab, through an online mode. This significant collaboration marks a major step towards strengthening academic and research initiatives in the field of renewable energy and sustainability.
The MoU was formally signed by the Vice Chancellor of CLUJ, Prof. K.S. Chandrasekhar, and the Director General of SSS-NIRE, Dr. Sangita M. Kasture. SSS-NIRE, an autonomous institution under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India, will act as a mentor institution for CLUJ in initiating programmes in Renewable Energy.
The collaboration aims to promote research and development in key areas such as renewable energy systems, energy storage, green hydrogen, grid integration, environmental sustainability, and techno-economic aspects of the energy sector. The MoU also focuses on addressing contemporary challenges related to sustainability and contributing towards the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals.
Under the agreement, both institutions will jointly engage in research projects, exchange academic and research materials, and facilitate interaction among scientists, faculty members, and research scholars. The MoU also provides for joint organization of seminars, workshops, training programmes, and conferences.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. K.S. Chandrasekar emphasized that the collaboration will open new avenues for students and researchers in the emerging area of renewable energy while strengthening the University’s commitment to cutting-edge research and sustainable development. Dr. Sangita M Kasture cited the importance of industry institution interaction and skill enhancement in renewable energy sector.
