IETE celebrates Students’ Day at Dept of Electronics in JU

JAMMU, Apr 21: The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) Jammu Sub Centre (J&K) celebrated Students’ Day in collaboration with the Department of Electronics, University of Jammu.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of electronics and was graced by the presence of esteemed dignitaries.
The event commenced with a warm welcome address in Dogri by Dr Vijay Sharma, Chairman, IETE. He explained the significance and objectives of the Student’s Day and conveyed that this day is very special to the whole IETE fraternity as students are the backbone and future of the society.
Presidential address from IETE, H.Q Delhi, was delivered by Dr Radhika Khanna Hon Secretary of IETE, Jammu Sub Centre.
Prof Susheel Sharma HoD Electronics, was the chief guest for the function. He highlighted that IETE is a national apex professional body which conducts technical activities to proliferate the latest advancement in technology among the students and society. He advised the M Sc students and research scholars to get membership of IETE so that they can improve their professional profile.
While speaking on the occasion Maj Gen (Retd) S K Sharma explained as to how Dogri language can be connected with the technology and urged all locals to speak in Dogri language to connect with the parents and society.
A series of insightful technical talks were presented by the invited speakers. Prof Parveen Kumar Lehana from the Dept. of Electronics explained as to how Vedas are linked with the technology. Prof Rakesh Vaid also explained the significance of technical seminars, national and international conferences which are the sole medium to learn about the latest technology.
Prof Pawnesh Abrol from the Dept of CS&IT University of Jammu, delivered a very informative and knowledgeable talk on the latest technology i.e Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
Rishabh Sharma, Shriya Singh and Manisha Thakur, students in the Dept of Electronics, JU, showcased their technical presentations on AI, ML and digital modulation. Research scholar Rupinder conducted proceedings of the event.
Tinny Sawhney, Treasurer IETE Jammu Sub Centre, presented vote of thanks. Among the other dignitaries present at the event included Dr Deepak and Vijay besides technical /non-technical staff members.
