JAMMU, Apr 21: In a significant development for residents of Jammu East, MLA Jammu East Constituency, Yudhvir Sethi today inaugurated slab upgradation at Indira Chowk in Ward No 19.
The project, estimated at Rs 18 lakh, aims to address persistent infrastructure concerns and improve public convenience in the busy area.
Speaking on the occasion, Sethi said, “This has been a long-pending demand of the people of Jammu East. The damaged slab at Indira Chowk was causing inconvenience and posed safety risks to pedestrians and commuters. Its upgradation will ensure smoother movement and better civic conditions.”
“We are prioritizing works that directly impact daily life. Development is not just about big projects but also about resolving local issues that matter to the people,” he added.
Indira Chowk is a crucial junction witnessing heavy vehicular and pedestrian movement.
The damaged slab had been a source of concern for shopkeepers, commuters and residents for a long time. With the sanctioned amount, authorities are expected to undertake timely repair and upgradation work to prevent further deterioration.
Locals have welcomed the move, expressing hope that the work will be executed without delay. The initiative is seen as part of ongoing efforts to improve urban infrastructure and address civic grievances in Jammu East constituency.
