JAMMU, Apr 21: Senior BJP leader, Priya Sethi here today flayed the opposition parties over the failure to pass the Women’s Reservation Bill amendment in Parliament.
During a function, Priya Sethi along with Updesh Andotra, District president Kathua; Aarti Jasrotia, secretary BJP J&K and Sushma Mahajan, BJP Mahila Morcha District president, alleged that parties like Congress, DMK, TMC and Samajwadi Party opposed the bill for their selfish motives.
Priya expressed disappointment and said that the entire nation especially the women were watching Parliament with hope.
Criticizing the conduct of opposition leaders, she said: “It was painful to see that when a proposal meant for women’s welfare was defeated, opposition parties were clapping.”
She further added that women across the country will remember this moment.
“A woman may forget many things but she never forgets an insult to her dignity,” the BJP leader maintained.
“For 70 years, women were denied equal political rights and when the opportunity finally came under PM Modi led Government, it was taken away again,” she continued.
